WHO ARE WE?
We are just New Testament Christians who follow
Christ and His teachings, Acts 2 and forward. We do not wear or accept any other designation that
is not found in the scriptures. We do not subscribe to any creed. The Bible is
our guide. Acts 11:26 And the disciples were first
called Christians in Antioch. 1
Peter 4:16 Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him
not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this matter.
We strive to be a church of Christ following the pattern
found in the New Testament: - in how we become Christians; in how we live as
Christians; in what we teach; in what we do as a church; and in the way we are
organized. Christ prophesied through Peter's confession that He, Jesus
Christ, would establish His church (His Kingdom) soon. (Listen to a recording on
"Thy Kingdom Come" Part 1 & "Thy Kingdom Come" Part 2, and the
Establishment of the Church) Matthew 16:16-19 Simon Peter answered and
said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." Jesus answered and said
to him, "Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed
this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. And I also say to you that you are
Peter, and on this rock (confession) I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not
prevail against it. And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and
whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on
earth will be loosed in heaven." After Jesus' Death, Burial, &
Resurrection, he spent forty days instructing His apostles concerning the
kingdom. Acts 1:2-4
Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he
through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had
chosen: To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many
infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things
pertaining to the kingdom of God: And, being assembled together with them,
commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the
promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. On the Day
of Pentecost Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, established His church and Peter
preached the first Gospel Sermon. Acts 2:36-38
Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that
God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter
and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them,
Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the
remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Let
the Lord add you to His church. Acts
2:47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people.
And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved. Romans 16:16
Greet one another with a holy kiss. The churches of Christ greet you.
It is our aim to speak where the Bible speaks and to be
silent where the Bible is silent, to do Bible things in Bible ways and call
Bible Things by Bible names. We are interested in honoring God, in following
Christ, and in learning, doing, and teaching the Good News of God's inspired
scriptures. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 All scripture is
given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for
correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be
perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. 2 Tim 2:15
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be
ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Acts 17:11 These were more noble than those in
Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and
searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
A PLEA FOR UNITY!
We plead for unity among all who obediently respond to the doctrine and commandments given by God in the New Testament. Such is harmony with the prayer of Jesus Christ, and the pleadings of the apostles of Christ. John 17:20-21 "I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me”. 1 Corinthians 1:10 Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. Such unity is possible, or Jesus would not have prayed for it. Division and apostasy is a departure from God's Divine pattern, but we believe that such can be eliminated by a return to the revealed truth of God's word. For this unity we pray and plead.
WORSHIPING GOD!
Our worship to God is simple, spiritual and orderly.
Acts 2:42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles'
doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. Eph
5:19-20 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and
spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; 20
Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our
Lord Jesus Christ;
Entertainment and recreation were not a part of the
worship assembly of the New Testament churches, and they should not be a part of
our worship and assembly in the churches of Christ today.
1 Peter 4:11 If any
man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do
it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified
through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
Rev 22:18-19 If any man shall add unto
these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this
book:19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this
prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the
holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
